The simulation process involves the deployment of a network of real-time tracer aerosol detectors and the release of fluorescent tracer aerosol that simulates virus transmission. The detection process is very sensitive and capable of detecting single airborne tracer particles. The data collected is expressed in particles per liter and can be used for directly relating to the infectious dose of a viral pathogen and for coupling with indoor aerosol transmission models.   The simulation process has been used for biodefense for over 16 years and in such environments (during public hours) as subway systems, airports, office buildings, commercial aircraft, skyscrapers, large government facility complexes, convention centers and numerous other types of facilities.
